Hypothetical Top Forty

In light of the BFI and Sight and Sounds recent "top films of all time" poll, I thought I'd throw in my own list, but I couldn't narrow it down to a top 10, or in fact a top 20, or top 30 so here is my very greedy top 40 films. There is no Citizen Kane, Jean Vigo, Jean Renoir, Carl Theodor Dreyer nor any Nouvelle Vague films in this list, apologies cinephiles. In no particular order:
